THE ORGANIZATION OF THE ANNUAL TIPITAKA CHANTING CEREMONY
For 2010-11, the Sanghas of Bangladesh and Laos will be the Chief Organizers of this prestigious ceremony.
A primary function of the International Tipitaka Chanting Council is to act as the governing body for the annual chanting ceremony. In particular, the Council has direct responsibility for the following elements of the Ceremony:
- The choice and version of texts to be chanted at the Ceremony
- The approval and co-ordination of sponsors for the Ceremony
- The approval of publicity for the Ceremony
- The general conduct of the opening and closing Ceremonies
- The general atmosphere of the Chanting Ceremony

Every two years, a different national group is asked to organize the ceremony itself, and form an organization and action committee to carry out this task. Details of the daily running of the ceremony, such as travel arrangements, accommodation, food, information tents, registration and the conduct of the opening and closing ceremonies are the direct responsibility of the organizing committee, under the guidance of the Council itself.
